Winter 2024: Updates and Insights from BorCon

As we have moved into the latter half of 2024, it’s a great time to reflect on the busy and productive months that have flown by at BorCon. Our focus has been unwavering as we continue to expand our presence and enhance our services across Southern Africa. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to and what exciting times lie ahead.

Expanding Our Reach in KZN and Beyond

This year has seen BorCon significantly increase its footprint in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), while still providing top-notch service to our valued clients in Gauteng and the Western Cape. Our core mission remains the same: to safeguard our clients from commercial contracting risks and to pre-emptively address potential disputes before they arise.

Empowering the Industry: BorCon's Exciting Collaboration with JBCC

We’ve had the privilege of hosting training sessions, both online and in person, on behalf of the Joint Building Contracts Committee (JBCC). It’s been a fantastic opportunity to engage with contractors, employers, and other key players in the industry, and we’re eager to share the progress we've made.

The core of our training revolves around the JBCC suite of contracts, which are essential tools for navigating the complexities of the African construction industry. By providing comprehensive training on these contracts, we aim to ensure that everyone involved has a clear understanding of the frameworks and processes that drive successful project outcomes.

Knowledge is indeed power, and by demystifying the JBCC contracts, we’re equipping participants with the skills they need to excel. Whether it’s a contractor, employer, or any other industry stakeholder, grasping the intricacies of these contracts is crucial for delivering projects effectively and efficiently.

Our sessions have been well-received, highlighting the importance of having a solid grasp of the tools at one’s disposal. We’re committed to making these trainings as engaging and informative as possible, and the feedback so far has been incredibly positive.

As we continue this journey, we’re excited about the potential for even greater impact and the opportunity to contribute to the professional growth of those in our field. Here’s to more successful training sessions and a future where everyone involved in construction has the knowledge they need to thrive!

Engaging with the Industry: A Successful and Engaging Breakfast with the Joint Building Contracts Committee

In early July, Brad had the pleasure of attending the JBCC Users Breakfast at Hotel Sky in Sandton, Gauteng. The event was a standout experience, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders from across the industry.

The breakfast was exceptionally well-coordinated, reflecting the meticulous planning and attention to detail that the Joint Building Contracts Committee (JBCC) is known for. The setting at Hotel Sky provided the perfect backdrop for a morning of insightful discussions and networking.

The energy in the room was palpable as professionals from various sectors shared their perspectives and experiences. It was an opportunity to delve into the intricacies of our field, exchange ideas, and gain valuable insights that are crucial for staying ahead in the industry and current in the South African construction landscape.

Brad left the breakfast feeling inspired and more connected to the broader industry community. The event not only reinforced his passion for our field but also provided practical takeaways that he is excited to apply in his work.
